Committee for Best Scientific Achievements Awards

USB organizes annual competitions for best scientific achievements. The competition is open for scientists - individual members of the Union or through their organizations - associate members of USB. The competition is divided in two groups - up to and above 35 years of age. Candidates participate with works published the previous three years in six scientific fields: natural sciences, technical sciences, biological and medical sciences, agrarian sciences, humanitarian sciences and social sciences. All candidates that have reached the last phase of the competition receive a certificate for participation. The winners receive a diploma and financial award. The second ranked receive a diploma. The awards are announced on 1st November - the Day of Bulgarian revival leaders and scientists.

The competition has become annual for all research groups since 2001. In 2003 participation in the competition was open to associate members of the Union, as well as to juridical bodies - members of USB.

The members of the Committee and the conditions for participation in the competition are apporoved by the General Assembly of proxies at the beginning of each mandate.

The Committee applies a system for evaluation of the works, that has been approved after a wide discussion among Union structures, the basic principles of which are reflected in the Conditions for Participation.
