Title of project: Improving the effectiveness of removable partial dentures in primary dental care

 1996 –2000: Appointed Specialist promoted to Senior Expert in Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Bulgaria

Responsibilities:

• Communicable disease surveillance and outbreak management at national level
• Contribute to the co-ordination of the response and investigation and control of confirmed or suspected infectious disease incidents at national level
• Liaise with microbiologists, environmental health officers, clinicians, veterinary experts and the media
• Providing advice to regional communicable disease services, members of the public and others on immunization and infectious disease
• Contribute to the development of national priorities, policies and guidance including legislation for the prevention and control of communicable disease
• Contribute to audit of communicable disease control services throughout the country

• International cooperation-WHO Programs of control and eradication of selected infectious diseases (Polio, Tuberculosis, EPI diseases)

Analytical ability - my success in my work so far is closely linked to a high degree of problem orientation, attention to detail and the ability to think laterally and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

Computer literate - over the past decade I have developed extensive experience of word processing (mainly MSWord), spreadsheets (mainly MSExcel), databases (mainly MSAccess), statistical software (mainly S.P.S.S.), NUD*IST Vivo(NVivo) for qualitative research, epidemiology programs (mainly Epi Info) as well as presentation applications (mainly Powerpoint).

Presentation skills - as one of the team responsible for communicable disease control in the Bulgarian MoH I am used to talking to a variety of audiences ranging from the general public to medical professionals. I have given a number of interviews on the epidemiological situation in the country to national newspapers, radio programs including several prime time appearances on the national TV. I have attended and gave presentations at several international conferences.
