Abstract

During his
short life Galois invented a theory, which would set the foundations of the
contemporary abstract mathematics. He introduced the definitions of groups,
normal subgroups and normal field extensions, which gave birth of new branches in
mathematics such as group theory, topology, homological
algebra. Nowadays these objects are frequently encountered in various applied
sciences - coding theory, cryptography, nuclear models
in physics, crystallography and many others.
