Development and Innovation of the Sectoral Economy in Bulgaria (1986-2008)

Abstract

The article gives an answer to the question whether the Bulgarian branch economy has lost its specialization in some productions consumers of new knowledge, in the transition period to a market economy. The conclusions show that the branch economy has lost its fundamental specialization part in productions having high value added, including the high-tech, and actually it is under the level of potential consumer of new knowledge. In this respect have been defined the directions for the future development of Bulgaria on the way to the knowledge economy.
