THE INCENSE – IN THE PAST AND TODAY

Abstract

            The use of incense in the past is presented with example from the Bible, Egypt, ancient Greece, Roman Empire and household. Short list of the used analytical methods today for solving of questions about the compounds used in the past for incense is given. Mention is also the way of human response of such stimulation and the chemical composition of the release materials during the incense. At the end one example of the investigation of archaeological finds of cosmetic vessels from Roman time in Bulgaria is given.
